Some of the arts groups use this as an opportunity to raise awareness of the art or artists whose work is on display. The Pacific Art League for example, typically ties in programs to First Friday events, where participants have the chance to meet the artist and learn more about the work. “I can really develop a deeper appreciation for what I’m looking at when I understand the artist's intention.” explains Katie Isselhardt, a recent Art Walk participant, “It makes the experience more meaningful”.

Always a highlight for the entire Bay Area, Redwood City’s fireworks begin July 4 at 9:30 p.m. from the Port of Redwood City, presented by the Peninsula Celebration Association. They can be seen from downtown and anywhere west of Highway 101 where there is a clear view of the skies above the Port. They can also be seen from high points all over the Peninsula. The Port is a maritime industrial area which is mostly private property with very limited public parking. The Port provides a public viewing area along the waterfront off of Seaport Court. Once all of the public parking spaces are filled, the Redwood City Police Department will close Seaport Boulevard to all vehicle traffic at the intersection of Seaport /Blomquist. Once the intersection has been closed, no vehicle access to the Port area will be granted. This traffic control restriction could occur as early as 7:30 p.m. The Port’s public boat launch ramp will remain open on July 4th. Viewing of the fireworks from watercraft is allowed provided they remain anchored outside of the designated safety zone. No spectators will be permitted on the launch ramp dock during the fireworks show. Earlier in the day on July 4, the 71st annual Independence Day Parade and 23rd annual Independence Day Festival begin downtown, with the parade starting at 10 a.m. The length of the parade

Visit Half Moon Bay Kicking off the festivities, a traditional parade complete with floats, music, antique cars, and even horses and ponies, marches down Main Street in Half Moon Bay, followed by a town picnic hosted by the American Legion, and fireworks at sunset on the beach below Sam's Chowder House

Vendors will be providing fresh local produce, along with flowers, and specialty food products. There's a community table with information from local nonprofit organizations.
